Danielle Boisvert is an experienced criminal defence lawyer, born and raised in Edmonton, Alberta. To her, serving the Edmonton community is a true privilege. She earned her Bachelor of Arts in Sociology with distinction from the University of Alberta in 2000 before beginning her career in the private sector.

While attending Queen’s University Faculty of Law—where she focused on becoming a criminal defence lawyer—Danielle worked at the Queen’s Legal Aid Clinic. In recognition of her dedication and impact, she was awarded the Robinson-Ryan Award in 2007. She was called to the Alberta Bar in 2008.

In 2023, Danielle received the inaugural Criminal Trial Lawyers’ Association Mary Moreau Award, recognizing her significant contributions to the advancement of civil liberties and her role in supporting women in criminal defence practice. She is also a guest contributor to Criminal Defence Essentials, a continuing professional development resource that educates lawyers across Canada.

As President, she was part of a team of defence lawyers who led a job action against the Government of Alberta for increased pay and access to justice in 2022. This restructuring significantly increased fees paid to lawyers representing clients on Legal Aid certificates. Further, she’s a regular guest on CTV’s Alberta Primetime Crime Panel and provides commentary on high-profile cases. She’s also appeared on CityNews, CBC National, CBC Radio, the Edmonton Journal, and Calgary Herald through commentaries on various legal issues.
